Mr Powis is a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at Leeds General Infirmary, Leeds and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Leeds Medical School, University of Leeds. He has interests in Paediatric Oncology, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Trauma and Surgical Education. He is Paediatric Trauma Lead for the West Yorkshire Major Trauma Network and co-author of the network trauma guidelines. He is Chair of the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) Surgical Sub-group; lead surgeon in the CCLG Renal Tumours Special Interest Group (SIG) and the UK surgeon in the SIOP Renal Tumour Study Group (RTSG). He was Training Programme Director for the Northern Paediatric Surgical Training Consortium; lead for National Selection in Paeditaric Surgery and Chairman of the Speciality Advisory Committee (SAC) in Paediatric Surgery until January 2018. He is faculty for the Royal College of Surgeons Educational Leadership Programme for Surgeons. He is an examiner in MBBS for the University of Leeds and for the FRCS (Paed Surg) exam and Oncology lead for this exam.
