Mr Joseph Curry MBBS, FRCS (Eng), FRCS (Paed Surg), PGCert (Med Ed), PGDip (Med Ed).
Mr Curry is the senior consultant in neonatal and paediatric surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital. He trained in the South East of England training consortium.
His main areas of interest are in gastrointestinal (bowel) surgery and treating children born with abnormalities of the abdominal wall, diaphragm and gastrointestinal tract. Particular areas of expertise are in anti-reflux surgery and lower bowel surgery including children with ano-rectal anomalies, Hirschsprung’s disease and inflammatory bowel disease. He jointly provides an MDT service for girls born with cloacal anomaly. He is part of a nationally commissioned MDT service for children with Chronic Intestinal Pseudo-Obstruction.
Mr Curry is also highly active in training in his NHS practice. He was the training programme director for the largest training consortium in paediatric surgery in the UK. He is currently the South England representative on the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons executive committee. He holds a post-graduate Certificate and Diploma in medical education from the University of London.
He has published over one hundred peer-reviewed articles and 16 book chapters and presented over one hundred and ten times to national and international conferences. He regularly reviews articles for journals such as the Journal of Paediatric Surgery, Paediatric Surgery International and Prenatal Diagnosis and is the speciality editor for the annals of the royal college of surgeons.
